Activities
Our activities programme is at the heart of life at Ashbourne Court. We ensure that we give all our residents the opportunity to experience new things as well as the time to enjoy their favourite pastimes on their own or with friends.
Our activities coordinators devise a broad range of activities and entertainment, which changes weekly to ensure that everyone can look forward to something new, every day.
Activities vary from bingo and knitting to skittles and karaoke and if it’s sunny and warm we get outside so everyone can enjoy the finer weather.
We have built excellent links with the Andover community and local musicians regularly come to the home to run activity sessions and play for residents. We encourage everyone to get out and about when they can, either with relatives to the shops or for lunch, or with the staff on a day trip. We are lucky to have many nearby attractions such as Salisbury and Winchester Cathedrals, and the fascinating Army Flying Museum and the Milestones Museum are just a short distance away.
There are a number of special events our residents look forward to including our summer fête and Christmas party. We also mark annual dates such as Valentine’s Day and Remembrance Sunday together in the home.
Nothing is too much trouble for our activities and caring teams, and they are always on hand to help or to join in the fun!
Food
At Ashbourne Court we firmly believe that when you eat well, you live well too, so food is a huge priority for us.
Our chef uses locally sourced ingredients to provide beautifully presented meals that are both delicious and nutritious. Our menus range from traditional British food such as a Sunday roast and fish and chips, through to lighter dishes such as scrambled eggs or stir fries.
We can cater for any dietary or health requirements, however complex. Drinks and snacks are provided throughout the day.
Our dining room is a happy place and full of conversation and laughter. Mealtimes provide the perfect opportunity to give all our residents a chance to come together and socialise.
Relatives love to come and share a meal with us too, and they’re always welcome.
Facilities
Our bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, providing the privacy and dignity residents require and deserve. All rooms are equipped with ensuite wet rooms, including a shower, wash basin, toilet, and call bell. Our bedrooms are set across three floors, with lift and wheelchair access to all.
We have a number of communal dining rooms, lounges, and quiet spaces which are spread out across the building making it easy for residents to find a private corner somewhere if they wish to spend some time alone.
Furnishings and decor throughout the home are of an exceptionally high standard. We have a lovely front garden with a decking area, which residents enjoy using in the summer. There is also a small garden area at the rear of the home where we relax and watch the wildlife.
Our Team
The team at Ashbourne Court is a diverse group, from different backgrounds and with diverse roles, but we all have something fundamental in common – every single one of us is passionate about care.
We are always on hand to help and also have empathy to know when residents wish to have quiet time alone. We strive to create little moments of kindness every day that make a real difference to our residents’ lives.
As well as our team of carers and nurses, we have a visiting GP, physiotherapist, chiropodist and dentist. We also have support from district nurses, occupational therapists and social workers.
For those looking for a little bit of pampering, our two in-house hairdressers are available three days a week.
